Thermo Reactive PU Leather Introduction
Oct 12, 2026
Thermo PU leather (also known as heat-reactive or thermo reactive polyurethane synthetic leather, heat-stamping color-change PU, or color change PU leather) is a premium synthetic leather material featuring heat-induced color change. It is widely used in high-end packaging, notebook covers, menu covers, bookbinding, gift boxes, and related applications.
I. Key Features
· Heat-Stamping Color Change: When heat-pressed at 160–180°C, the pressed areas undergo a permanent darkening effect (e.g., red to deep red, green to dark green), creating a high-contrast, embossed look similar to genuine leather branding.
· Soft Touch: Combines the hand-feel of natural leather with the consistency and stability of synthetic materials. Offers excellent fold resistance, abrasion resistance, and anti-mildew properties.
· Eco-Compliance: Mainstream products comply with international environmental standards including REACH, RoHS, and CA Prop 65 etc. Some carry Vegan certification and contain no animal-derived ingredients.
II. Applications
Application Area
Typical Products

III. Processing Guidelines
· Heat-Pressing Temperature: Typically 160–180°C. Lighter-colored materials may require higher temperatures. Black and white variants show minimal color-change effect.
· Pressure Control: Insufficient pressure results in poor contrast and lack of depth; excessive pressure may cause edge scorching or base texture bleed-through.
· Stamping Die Material: Copper dies are recommended for more stable heat conduction; zinc dies are also usable but yield slightly inferior results.
